This is an Introduction to the art of tying and getting tied. There will be a short theoretical talk, a demonstration and many practical exercises for those who wish to try out. Felix and Nehra Stella teach the class from both sides of the rope, switching roles and explaining the skills necessary for both, rigger and model.

# ROPE MIND&MINDFULNESS (one day / 6 hours) With Felix Ruckert

Space, time, body and rope. A deeper understanding of concepts, materials and objects is the secret of modern sorcery. Felix draws from 40 years of experience in dance, body work and BDSM practices to break through habits of seeing, hearing and sensing. Shelix appeals to courage and lust to re-invent perception and therefore create enlivenment. Playing means inventing and following rules. Creativity is sparked by friction and challenges. Intensity is produced by open-goal-navigation through resistence. This is an invitation to a controlled loss of control, to turn the world upside-down. And too laugh about it.

# MORE THAN KNOTS AND TIES – BONDAGE AND BDSM / a weekend workshop ( Fr / Sat / Sun / 15 hours total) With Felix Ruckert

This workshop will take you from simply playing with rope to more complex BDSM scenarios and plays. Starting with the basic constellation of the one-who-ties and the-one-who-gets-tied  we will explore different possibilities to enrich and deepen your play: Pain Processing, Dominance and Submission, Rough Body Play, Impact and Resistance Play, Sensual and Sexual Practices. Those and other techniques might be part of the schedule, according to the interests and desires of the group.

There will be no need to engage in fluid exchange or penetration, nevertheless – if desired by individual players – sexual activity is welcome. Many exercises will deal with taking care of your own and your partner’s feelings and the ability to clearly communicate wishes, desires, fears and limits.

A basic knowledge of rope bondage is required and we ask you to bring your own ropes. Floggers and other instruments, costumes and sex toys might be integrated in the play as well, so bring what you have, especially different outfits to wear such as underwear, kimonos, dresses or fabrics. Integrating those elements into a rope session not only provides new sensations and different aesthetics, but often can give a specific narrative and color to your scene.

The work is about more then just integrating new skills into your rope bondage play. Felix’ work is about a better understanding of the unison of mind, body and soul. About the synergies between creative and sexual impulses. His analytical approach provides a safe ground to allow the uncontrolled happen. The mindfulness of clear tasks and exercises offers a frame to let intuition guide you.. The workshop provides the possibility of intense learning and the exquisite joy of experiencing the totally unfamiliar. Felix aims at exploring and developing the BDSM ritual as an art form. His approach is marked by his keen sensibility of the connections between time, space, emotion, and sensation.

The workshop participants will be encouraged and guided to develop their own material into highly individual scenes and compositions. This workshop is geared toward people with the maturity and motivation for intense physical and emotional experiences.

C.V. Felix Ruckert (special Rope Bondage )

Following a long career as an internationally renowned dancer and choreographer Felix expanded her skill set when she discovered Shibari or Kinbaku – Japanese Rope Bondage – in 1999.  She had the chance to study with some of the most celebrated japanese and western masters, amongst her first teachers were Matthias T.J. Grimme, Midori, Shadow and Osada Steve.

When in 2007 she opened schwelle7, it quickly became an important hub for the international Shibari community. For nine years she regularily invited masters from Japan and therefore had also the opportunity to learn from Arisue Go, Nawashi Kanna, Hajime Kinoko, Akira Naka, Otonaya Otonawa and Ren Yagami. By programming Shibari at schwelle7 Felix Ruckert played a significant role in popularizing the practice in Berlin and throughout Europe. She also created several performances for the stage that integrated elements of Japanese Rope Bondage: STILLEN (2000), DIE FARM (2006), DRYADE – A DARK FAIRY (2011) and ZERO GRAVITY ZONE (2012).

Currently she organizes twice a year the EURIX (European Rigger&Model Exchange) in Berlin, which is one of the most popular international meetings for rope artists who engage in the development of Kinbaku as an art form. At EURIX she recently started again to create short Rope Bondage Performances applying some strict conceptual rules:Using innovative technique, Defining narrative and subtext, Applying tools of instant composition.

She performs regularily at her new venue in Berlin: IKSK – The institute for body research and sexual culture

Her approach to individual sessions is unconventional and does not follow any particular style. Her ties adapt to each partner and each situation, she composes with body, rope, time and space in unpredictable ways.  At the moment she calls it CONTEMPORARY ROPE BONDAGE.
